    Description

    Electroformed cicada.
    Approximately 3”x1.5”x0.5”
    There is an actual 17-year periodical cicada under the copper plating. The plating is thick. It
    takes two days to let the plating build-up. Starting with a dried cicada to finished piece, it takes
    ten days to complete the process. This species is, Magicicada septendecim, from Brood VIII.
    The cicadas were collected during the summer of 2019 near Rochester, Butler, and Chicora in
    South Western Pennsylvania. I had made several road trips to collect them. I also had some
    friends that lived in the area collect insects for me. I traded them marbles for the insects they
    had gathered. We did not need to kill any cicadas, as they expire after mating.
