    Overland Publishing Company, Chicago, 1878. Soft covers. The frontispiece is titled "Utah's Best Crop" and features a collage of scary-looking babies. Illustrated advertisements in front and on endpapers. A well-illustrated travel guide to the Western US. Wood engraved illustrations and maps, including 18 double-page and many full page engravings. First in this series of Crofutt's guides to the railroad route to the West. Earlier series (first published in 1869) were titled "Great Trans-continental Railroad Guide" and "Crofutt's trans-continental tourist's guide." 322 pages. While this guide is complete, the covers were loose and taped back on with clear tape. The tape acts as a Mylar cover. They were not taped on correctly, so the first few pages appear shorter than the rest of the book. All fold-outs are present. Light edge wear. Good starter copy.
